Last Month I did a southwest phototour. For one of the nights I planned to be at Monument Valley at sunset. I have some nice shots of this scene already from a previous trip and sky’s didn’t look like they were going to do anything spectacular so I left my camera in the car and thought I would see what my iphone can do. I think it turned out pretty nice, the below photo is straight fromt he iphone. The shot at the bottom is a black & white I did through Nik Silver Effects pro using a green filter.
I’m really impressed with this camera. This shot was made tripod mounted and the focus point on the center flower. I processed this jpeg from a Raw file. Check the 100 percent crop below and make your own opinion.
This is an image that I had envisioned for a while from a location that is close to my home. All of the elements came together for this long exposure image.
This shot was taken from above Park City, Utah on chair lift on a recent snowboarding trip. Hand held with the Canon S90 (Canon s95). Shooting this as a Raw file, will make a very nice detailed print up to 16×24. The Canon S90 or S95 is really the only pocketable point and shoot camera out today that can shoot raw files and has a image sensor approximately twice the size of the average point and shoot. To me thats an invaluable feature whether i’m on a photography trip or shooting the kids. I always shoot raw plus jpeg and throw away the raw files unless I feel that I want to make a print.
The editors of Outdoor Photographer Magazine choose Pre Dawn Dunes to be a finalist in this years Natures Colors Contest. There are many beautiful images this year and I am very flattered that they chose my image to be in the gallery.
